Authentic homemade pizza dough using Caputo double zero flour

There's nothing quite like the taste and texture of a perfectly made pizza crust - crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. While store-bought pizza dough and pre-made crusts can be convenient, there's nothing quite like the taste and satisfaction of making your own dough at home. With a few simple ingredients and a bit of time and patience, you can create delicious, authentic pizza dough that will elevate your home-cooked pizzas to the next level. In this article, we'll provide a step-by-step guide to making your own pizza dough at home, as well as some tips and variations to try.

The ingredients you'll need:

  • 500g (3 1/2 cups) Caputo 00 flour

  • 300ml (1 1/4 cups) warm water

  • 10g (2 teaspoons) salt

  • 7g (1 packet) active dry yeast

Instructions:

  • In a small bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the yeast has dissolved and the mixture becomes foamy.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

  • Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture.

  • Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix the ingredients together until a rough dough forms.

Then, transfer the rough dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  • Place the dough ball in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

  • Preheat your oven to its highest temperature (usually around 500F/260C).

  • Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll out each piece into a thin circle and place them on a lightly floured baking sheet.

  • Add your desired toppings and bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Enjoy your homemade pizza!
